Prince Shoal Lighthouse Tadoussac Quebec Edit 2

The Prince Shoal (Haut-fond Prince) Lighthouse, near Tadoussac, Quebec, in the St. Lawrence River. It is so named because the boat carrying Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, in Victoria's stead, to the opening cermony of the Victoria Bridge in Montreal, ran aground on a previously unmapped shoal in the river. It was subsequently given the name by Her Majesty's Royal Cartographers. Planning for the lighthouse began in 1961, and it was sunk in place in 1963. It was staffed until automation in 1987. This is one of two different edits (this one giving a lower contrast, but a more realistic feel of the scene) of the original photograph, depicting the lighthouse against a backdrop of light fog, the morning of a whale watching excursion that revealed only a modest number of whales, and a few harbour seals. This was by far the best shot from that boat ride.
